Dr. Schuck holds a doctoral degree in ethics and society from the University of Chicago Divinity School, a master’s degree in religious studies and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in history from St. Louis University.
Dr. Schuck ‘s research and teaching focuses on Roman Catholic social thought, theological and philosophical ethics, environmental ethics and spirituality, and Indigenous studies. Among his publications include books That They be One: Social Teaching of the Papal Encyclicals, 1740-1989 (Georgetown University Press, 1998) and Democracy, Culture and Catholicism , with John Crowley Buck (Fordham University Press, 2015).
Dr. Schuck directs several ongoing projects including the online integral ecology textbook Healing Earth, the University Pathways Guidebook for Pope Francis’ 7-Year Journey Towards Integral Ecology under the auspices of the Vatican Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development, and the online course Global Environmental Citizenship for the Magis Exchange Program of the Society of Jesus.
