Four Twenty Seven, an affiliate of Moody’s, is a leading publisher and provider of data, market intelligence and analysis related to physical climate and environmental risks. Our mission is to catalyze climate adaptation and resilience investments by enabling the integration of climate science into business and policy decisions. In July 2019, Four Twenty Seven received a majority investment from Moody’s Corporation.
Emilie Mazzacurati founded Four Twenty Seven in October 2012 after Hurricane Sandy demonstrated that the lack of planning for climate impacts could bring even the most the powerful financial institutions to their knees. Driven by the conviction that businesses have a critical role to play in building resilience if provided with the right tools and guidance, Four Twenty Seven offers science-driven risk analytics to investors, corporations, and governments.
Headquartered in Berkeley, California, Four Twenty Seven is rooted in the culture of technological innovation, social awareness and environmental stewardship of the San Francisco Bay Area. With local representatives in Washington, DC, Paris, London and Tokyo, we serve clients around the world and leverage the span of our work across countries and sectors to emulate best practices and new research for the benefit of our clients.
Our team comprises highly qualified professionals with backgrounds in climate science, computer engineering, macroeconomics, finance, natural resources management, policy analysis, and international development.
We are honored by the multiple awards and accolades our work has won and will continue to strive to improve our collective understanding of climate risk to build local and global resilience.
Emilie Mazzacurati, Founder and CEO of Four Twenty Seven, lays out her vision for the company as she receives the Berkeley Visionary Award in September 2016.
The name Four Twenty Seven is a reference to California’s previous 2020 emissions target, 427 million tonnes of carbon.
