We’re seriously impressed by Norway’s EV adoption
Actor Will Ferrell is fired up about Norway and we don’t blame him. We admire his passion for EVs, just as much as we support Norway’s pursuit of an all-electric future. GM’s commitment to creating a future world with zero emissions means we need to bring Everybody In.
As highlighted in the spot, Norway has more EVs per capita than any other country. 54 percent of new vehicles sold are electric. Some of the country’s early adoption can be attributed to actions Norway took that encourage EV ownership and promote a charging infrastructure.
At GM, we’re focusing on three priorities to help advance a zero-emissions, all-electric future:
1. Developing batteries that charge fast and go far.
Batteries are the key to deliver EVs at scale. In 2020, GM revealed the Ultium battery platform, which will be the heartbeat of our all-electric future. Ultium-powered EVs are designed for fast charging and the platform is capable of delivering a vehicle with a GM-estimated range of up to 450 miles on a full charge1.
2. Creating EVs for every lifestyle and price point.
Driven by our commitment to developing an EV for every person and every price point, GM is bringing 30 new EVs to the market globally by 2025. The GMC HUMMER EV – the world’s first all-electric super truck – the Cadillac LYRIQ SUV and the Chevrolet Bolt EUV demonstrate GM’s dedication to engineering a diverse range of EVs that will be desirable and accessible for all.
3. Helping make vehicle charging fast, affordable and convenient.
Through a collaboration with EVgo, we are tripling the size of the nation’s largest public fast charging network by adding more than 2,700 new fast chargers by the end of 2025.
Everybody In
As the largest automaker in the U.S., we recognize our impact as well as our opportunity to help people thrive in a world with zero emissions. General Motors is working to establish a safer and better world which will require commitments beyond just accelerating EV adoption. We recently announced plans to become carbon neutral2 in our global products and operations by 2040 including aspirations to eliminate tailpipe emissions from new light-duty vehicles by 2035.
‘Everybody In’ demonstrates our intent to lead, while inviting others – policymakers, partners, individuals – to play an active role in moving society forward, whether that’s helping to expand infrastructure, advocating for progress in their communities, learning about the benefits of EV ownership or simply taking a test drive to experience how fun they are.
